Thigh high boots are a type of footwear that differ from regular shoes and boots by a long shaft that covers the leg and extends above the knees. Thigh high boots are also referred to simply as thigh boots, thigh-high boots or over-the-knee (OTK) boots. The typical shaft length for this type of boots varies from just above the knee up to the crotch area (in which case often the term Crotch boots is used). This type of boots has achieved a cult status. Although thigh high boots are traditionally associated with eroticism by most, they are becoming more and more acceptable as a fashion statement. Smaller factories are located in the UK and other European countries and offer boots of various levels of quality. For the more exquisite (and expensive) brands of thigh high boots there are a few popular designers from Italy, such as Gianmarco Lorenzi, Giuseppe Zanotti and DiMarni. There’s also the option of buying custom made thigh high boots, of which manufacturers can be difficult to find.
